Panel warehouse supports traceability of food safe plastics

Intelligently networked software and automation processes have been involved in Murtfeldt's stock management flow

Intelligently networked software and automation processes have been part of Murtfeldt's stock management system since autumn 2014. This warehousing method also reinforces Murtfeldt's expertise in the field of plastics that are compliant with legal requirements for use in the food industry: It guarantees the 100% batch traceability of finished parts via the corresponding semi-finished products and right back to the powder.

This meets requirements that are made by the entire food sector, for example, and that Murtfeldt has ensured since 2011 in accordance with EC 1935/2004 and 10/2011.

Murtfeldt Kunststoffe is proving this expertise from the 24th to the 27th of March 2015 at Stand D 063 in Hall 10.1 at this year's Anuga FoodTec fair. Here, Murtfeldt Kunststoffe is presenting its entire range of plastics that are compliant with legal requirements for use in the food industry and are marked with the letters [FS] ("Food-Safe"). Furthermore, the company is showcasing diverse, custom-made plastic solutions that have been designed and produced for customers in the food processing industry, some of which are even metal-detectable!

Consumers are entitled to foods that have no harmful effects on their health. Manufacturers such as Murtfeldt Kunststoffe, whose products - whilst not being part of the food itself do come into direct contact with it, whether during production with special machines, filling, transport in special containers, storage, or delivery, must also guarantee this harmlessness.

Due to their excellent wear resistance and sliding friction properties, technical plastics from Murtfeldt are used for curve/chain guides for food production systems and in the beverage industry as well as slide/drive elements in medical technology and food technology. Whether as a product turner, conveying screw, or set of tools: These products are often used in areas where hygiene and sometimes metal-detectability are required.

Since the start of 2015, all machine and plant constructors are obliged to provide proof that their plants only use plastics that comply with Regulations (EC) No. 1935/2004 and 10/2011. Since summer 2011, these regulations have required the food sector to meet considerably stricter standards than those imposed by the US FDA regulation, which is considered by many to be strict in itself.

Murtfeldt Kunststoffe rose up to meet the related challenges early on. As early as August 2011, the company was able to successfully conclude the required migration processes for its products for use in the food sector. The advantage of this fast implementation is obvious: Murtfeldt was one of the first manufacturers of plastics to offer customers planning security for the construction of new machines and plants. Customers who placed their trust in Murtfeldt's food-compliant plastics early on avoided the later costly and time-consuming conversion of plants as well as unnecessary production stops.

Furthermore, machine/plant constructors and maintenance engineers benefit from the comprehensive knowledge that Murtfeldt has built up in the field of compliance with legal requirements for the food industry over the last few years.
